Eligibility: Advanced/competitive players with skating experience.

About Toby Petersen

Toby brings over two decades of high-level hockey experience to the ice. Before joining the Avalanche, he spent six seasons as an assistant coach in the AHL, working with the top prospects of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Buffalo Sabres. He helped lead the Lake Erie Monsters to a Calder Cup championship in 2016.

As a player, Toby skated in 398 NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Edmonton Oilers, and Dallas Stars, tallying 81 NHL points over a nearly 15-year pro career. He also played more than 600 AHL games, finishing his playing career by winning a Calder Cup with the Texas Stars in 2014.

Toby played four seasons at Colorado College, earning a degree in Psychology and leading his team to multiple NCAA tournament appearances. He also represented Team USA in the World Junior and Men’s World Championships.

He is the founder of Peak Vision Hockey, a video-based coaching platform designed to build hockey IQ through skill-specific feedback and situational awareness. His teaching focuses on understanding the game while building efficient, repeatable habits—because if you can think fast, you can play fast.
